Mojo Radio

Welcome to Mojo Radio! Between 2004 and 2011, this was the only site on the net where you could stream rare, bootleg, and demo recordings by Jeff. Many years ago I was asked to remove all of the music from the site, but lucky for all of us fans, most of the material can now be found with a simple Google search. I've added search links for each of the original MojoRadio tracks below. If there's something you can't find, contact me, and I'll try to point you in the right direction. Enjoy!

Tim Buckley Tribute Saint Ann's Church (April 26, 1991)

Jeff's first-known New York appearance was at the Tim Buckley Tribute held on April 26, 1991. He came from LA to participate, and he had stated that it was his way of saying goodbye to the father he hadn't really known. Various artists performed Tim Buckley's music (usually 2-3 songs each), and Jeff went on before intermission.

I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain
Sefronia - The King's Chain

The Babylon Dungeon Demos

This is Jeff's tape that he tried to circulate to get some exposure while he was in Los Angeles. It never made it too many places, but on this are the first incarnations of some of his songs that appeared on Grace and some that were lost in the mists of time.

Jeff on Idiot's Delight (December 17, 1995)

Jeff was a guest on WFMU's show Idiot's Delight on a cold December 17th in New York City. Here he debuted Woke Up In A Strange Place on acoustic guitar and also performed a cool acoustic version of Lover, You Should've Come Over.

Lover, You Should've Come Over (Live 12-17-95 WXRK NY)

WFMU Phone Conversation (September 6, 1992)

Hal Wilner calls Jeff up on the phone one afternoon and Jeff sings "I Shall Be Released" accompanying himself on harmonica. On the other end of the phone the band supplies the backing music. This is a classic and priceless track! (Note: Jeff's friend Irwin is the one acting like a secretary, not Jeff himself as some seem to believe.)

Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk (Live)

I've put together as many of the songs from his disc Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk that I could find with Live Bootleg recordings. This is just about as close as anybody will ever get to hearing a show of Jeff performing this record live.

A fan took this idea one step further and created a beautiful remastered compilation on YouTube.

1 - The Sky Is a Landfill (Knitting Factory Rare Soundboard)
2 - Everybody Here Wants You (Live)
3 - Nightmares by the Sea (Live at Arlenes Grocery)
4 - Opened once (Instrumental)
5 - Yard of Blonde Girls (Live)
6 - Witches Rave (Live)
7 - New Year's Prayer (Live)
8 - Morning Theft (Live)
9 - Vancouver (Live Arlene's Grocery 2.9.97)
10 - Haven't You Heard (Live at Arlenes Grocery)
11 - You And I (Guitar Version)
12 - Jewel Box (Live)
13 - Satisfied Mind (Live)
14 - Your Flesh Is So Nice (Live)
