Unreleased Songs
I've been lucky enough to get a hold of most of the obscure tracks in Jeff's catalogue. There
are still a few that never seem to surface. In both a documentary and an interview, Michael Tighe has been quoted saying
that he felt the song "Sky Blue Skin" was very important and that the fans should hear it.
All Flowers In Time Bend Toward The Sun (J. Buckley)
my eyes are
all flowers in time bend towards the sun
aah, ooh...
all flowers in time bend towards the sun
aah, ooh...
when will you weep for me
it's ok to be angry
all flowers in time bend towards the sun
Don't Listen To Anyone But Me (J. Buckley) There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( Dendrils of Death (J. Buckley) There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( This is a beautiful take of a song done in a studio. It has titled "The Man I Am" by a few fans for identification purposes, but the original title is still unknown, so it could very well be one of these other tracks listed here. Don't Listen To Anyone But Me (J. Buckley) There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :(
to cross the ocean and to look down
i made like i didn't tell you
when will you wash the bodies
i made like i didn't tell you
but cry, oh, your life
now my sister, you didn't know how
while the city's busy sleeping
don't fool yourself
her love is a rose dead and dying
don't fool yourself
oh my tears fall down as i tried to forget
don't fool yourself

so well
let's bomb the moonlight and dance
this far awake is a joke our love is real
armageddon's just another job, it's all on the inside
let's go bomb the moonlight
oh people of the world
we'll bomb the moonlight and dance
sweet black mother of death Let's Go Shopping (J. Buckley) There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( Open Up And Bleed (J. Buckley) There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( I have the original 4-track tape recording of Jeff's work on this song on MojoRadio. There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( This song which is from the Babylon Dungeon Demos demo tape is a complete original. It has a very different tone than most of Buckley's music, but still has a powerful sound to it as the song gets going. This song was acquired on 03/20/2006 among a few others. I will try and get the lyrics up soon. It can be heard on MojoRadio. The Morning After (J. Buckley) There is currently no information about this song available. It is most likely lost somewhere in the Sony vaults. :( Sky Blue Skin (J. Buckley - Demo - September 13, 1996)
This song was finally released on August 23, 2019 as part of Jeff Buckley 25 Years of Grace. Back around 2005 I posted the following text here about this song:
Sky Blue Skin is an unfinished song. Mary Guibert (Jeff's Mother) has two demo takes of it, but nothing with lyrics. Michael Tighe was quoted in a documentary saying: "I think this is the most important out of all the other unreleased songs. I think it really has something to say." Hopefully we will see its release at some point in the future. And what I had wrote about at the top of this page about some of these "unreleased" songs possibly being one of the unidentified songs in the collection has proven to be true. Sky Blue Skin is identical to the recording I had acquired on 03/20/2006 titled Untitled (The Man I Am) which could be played on MojoRadio so many years ago; before the Jeff Buckley Estate asked me to remove the tracks (probably to thwart circulation of this song!). I can't remember where I read about Mary having "two demo takes of it, but nothing with lyrics," perhaps another documentary, but that was probably nonsense to cover up the fact that the song was indeed out there. Also, it's interesting that Michael Tighe was not aware that this was the same song, but he could have been ordered not to speak about it. Well, I'm glad to finally put to rest the mystery surrounding this song and you can you can listen to both versions below. Strawberry Street (J. Buckley) This song and the lone instrument mix were on Jeff's very first demo tape The Babylon Dungeon Demos. 'Strawberry Street' - previously unreleased, originally written in 1988, and appears here in a rehearsal recording from The Knitting Factory, NY, in May of 1993, with an early try-out combo of bassist Tom Goodkind (of The Washington Squares) and drummer John McNally. This song is included on the release Grace: 10th Anniversary Legacy Edition. This song which is from the Babylon Dungeon Demos demo tape is the first incarnations of Last Goodbye. The instruments, lyrics and vocal melody of the song are a little different. |
